Bra Holsters

Choosing the best option for your personal concealed carry holster can be a little overwhelming!  The good news is, we're here to help.  As you consider the best type of bra carry holster, here are the details about each one.

Flashbang Bra Holster Style and Draw Style

We offer many different variations on the actual Kydex (plastic) shell of the Flashbang Holster itself.  Some of the different versions are just aesthetic differences.  It’s awesome to be able to pick your favorite color or a pretty Boutique print for your daily carry method. Who wants to wear the EXACT SAME THING every day unless you really LOVE it??  

Other differences are more about function and that’s what I want to discuss here.  

The Flashbang Holster is precisely molded to fit each gun individually. This means it snaps down around the trigger guard securely so that the trigger cannot be accessed until the gun is drawn. The kydex holster also covers the slide of the gun to help protect it from sweat and oils from your skin.

The holster and gun are held in place by the squeeze from your bra band and are concealed horizontally just under the breasts. When you pull down to draw your gun, the gun and holster pop out from underneath the bra band. This allows the holster to flex open, releasing the gun.

We offer two different thicknesses of Kydex in our Flashbang Holsters.  One is .080 thickness, and it’s the traditional option for our bra holsters as well as what we use for IWB holster options like The Amelia or Betty 2.0.  Because it’s thicker, It’s less flexible and offers more retention.  In some situations, this is a very good thing, or even necessary. 

When you have a large or heavy firearm, the weight of the gun pulling down on the holster opening requires this thicker kydex to safely retain the firearm. The same is true if you carry a revolver, or a pistol with a slide-mounted optic (such as a red dot). Because of the way these holsters fit around the gun, and the parts of the Kydex that are cut away, they demand a little extra retention from the holster.

The firmer retention offered by the Original Flashbang holster is also useful when the wearer is involved in high-impact activities like crossfit-style workouts. The thicker kydex can easily retain the gun without the support of the bra band. This adds an extra layer of security in situations where the holster might move around a lot.

The second Kydex option we offer is .060 thickness.  We use this lighter, thinner plastic to make our Easy Draw holsters. This means there's less retention on your firearm as you draw and less resistance as you re-holster too. For anyone who carries a smaller/lighter weight pistol, this means that you have the perfect amount of retention along with an easier user experience.

Another functional option is the addition of a soft suede covering on the exterior or the holster.  When we add this, we call it a “Teddy” style holster.  Adding suede might limit your design choices a bit (although we still offer multiple solid color options in the Teddy version!), but it dramatically increases comfort levels!  The suede helps increase breathability between your holster and your skin, so there’s less sweat buildup.  It also has a super soft feel to it, so strapping on your firearm can even seem a bit “cozy” -especially if the weather is cold!  The suede also creates a little bit of friction against your skin that helps keep the holster in place better than slick Kydex.  We already know you’re worried about keeping it clean, but it’s actually simple and easy.  Take a peek at the Care Instructions tab on any of our holsters for more information on how to best maintain your holster.

Gun Fit

If you were reading about the different Draw Styles earlier and wondering if you had a “large and heavy firearm” or not, I have good news for you.  You don’t have to make that decision!  We did it for you.  If your firearm is listed on the dropdown menu for Standard Draw Flashbang Holsters, but not for Easy Draw Holsters, that’s because the lighter Kydex doesn’t retain your firearm to our safety standards.  If you find your holster on the Easy Draw list, you can feel confident about ordering it for your gun.  A little insider information for you....all revolvers, and pistols with a slide mounted optic (ex. A Red Dot), or an added laser under the barrel are only offered in the Standard Draw options.  If you can’t find your gun on either list, please send us an email so that we can guide you on options or add your firearm to our Fit Request List.

Strap Color

Every Flashbang comes with a set of four suede straps to attach it to the center of your bra.  These are made in different lengths to accommodate different bra band widths (S/M/L/XL).  These straps will work with bras up to 5” wide in the middle, and can even work well with sports bras that have a wider front section as long as the material can be scrunched together so that the strap can wrap around it. This actually provides some extra support for the holster. 

We have many different strap colors to choose from, so have fun picking out your favorite color combos.  One thing to keep in mind is that the strap is the most visible part of the holster if you’re wearing a semi-sheer shirt.  In this case, we recommend that you choose a strap color to coordinate with your bra, so that the colors blend together and become less obvious to any suspicious eyes.  Sometimes having multiple strap colors on hand can be helpful for this reason.
